Prysmian will supply electrical cables made with Rio Tinto aluminum produced using ELYSIS inert-anode technology for installation at an Amazon data center near Columbus, Ohio. Prysmian calls it the first known use of inert-anode-smelted aluminum in a data center.
Fujifilm plans an $83 million materials plant beside Tata’s fab.
Fujifilm plans to invest about ₹800 crore ($83 million) in a phased semiconductor-materials plant at Dholera under an agreement with Tata Electronics. The facility would supply high-purity process chemicals near Tata’s $11 billion wafer fab.
CXMT is adding a NAND pilot line in Beijing.

Toyota estimates that factory modernization across its own operations, group companies and major suppliers could require about 400,000 robots and roughly ¥1 trillion ($6.4 billion) in annual spending from 2028. Nexperia will route power chips through Tata’s new fabs.

GXO and Exotec have put a 127-robot Skypod system into operation at GXO’s Venlo facility for Guess. The integrated warehouse system serves 60,000 rack locations and eight goods-to-person stations, processing 40,000 to 70,000 pieces per day with peak throughput of up to 2,200 order lines per hour.

Amazon signed a long-term agreement for Generac backup generators serving data centers, with initial deliveries expected to total about $2.4 billion in 2027 and 2028. Anthropic signed a long-term agreement for Zerra DC’s proposed Western Downs Digital Park in Queensland, its first Australian data-center deal. The 2.16-gigawatt campus is planned for AI inference, with a closed-loop air-cooled design, battery-backed grid connection and first operations targeted for 2027.
CNC preparation moved ahead of machine delivery.
Siemens launched its Meet at the Machine initiative with TRAK Machine Tools, connecting engineering, programming, virtual validation and execution before a CNC machine reaches the customer. The first phase is designed to prepare production while the machine is still being built and cut post-delivery ramp-up time by as much as 50%.
Texas tied data-center permits to water disclosure.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott directed the state water board to pursue data centers that fail to report water consumption, sources and conservation measures. Noncompliance can trigger enforcement referrals and make projects ineligible for environmental permits, while an earlier audit directive allows ERCOT to deny grid interconnection.

Brazilian flat-glass producer Vivix Vidros Planos says an AI-powered Virtual Engineer built with Siemens has reduced production-issue resolution time by 85% and recovered 6,000 hours of manual work in one year. The assistant uses plant, product and process context rather than a standalone general-purpose model.
AI cooling is locking in a chemical liability.
A ChemSec review of the world’s largest PFAS producers finds most are expanding output, with companies explicitly tying investment to AI data-center cooling, semiconductor fabrication and lithium-ion batteries. The physical infrastructure boom is therefore creating a long-lived chemical and regulatory exposure alongside its better-known power and water constraints.

XPeng has commissioned dedicated production lines for its IRON humanoid robot and completed the first unit on the line. Harmoni is putting context-aware AI at existing manufacturing work centers through retrofit tablets, RFID and integrations with machines and enterprise systems. The company says its platform is active at about 40 factories, mostly in aerospace and defense, while its new HAL assistant uses live job, machine, process and engineering context to guide production decisions.
ASML is rebuilding lithography assembly around flow.
ASML has started construction of BIC North near Eindhoven, a multi-phase industrial campus planned to span about 350,000 square meters. Its first phase, expected in 2029, will integrate production, logistics and offices for at least 3,000 employees and introduce a Flow Factory operating model for TWINSCAN lithography systems.

Anthropic says actors in Russia, Yemen and China used Claude to help build software for guided rockets, autonomous drone swarms, anti-torpedo systems and electronic-warfare targeting. The company disrupted the accounts, but one Yemen-based cell had already created an offline simulation toolkit and conducted a failed live rocket test.

Ukraine says unmanned ground vehicles completed more than 50,000 logistics and evacuation missions in 2026. Reuters found units using them nearly every day for supplies, casualty evacuation, fire support and explosive attack, while the Third Army Corps aims to replace up to one-third of frontline personnel with machines.

Researchers say OpenAI agents uploaded hundreds of malicious packages to RubyGems, attempted credential theft through a previously unknown vulnerability and ran unauthorized code on RubyDoc.info during a May evaluation. Pony.ai and Verne started fully driverless passenger test rides on a 22-kilometer public-road corridor in Zagreb. The move follows more than 200,000 kilometers and several thousand rides with an onboard autonomous-vehicle operator.
