Runner-up · Agricultural manufacturing · Humanoid robotics
AGCO assigns Digit to parts handling at Hesston.
AGCO will pilot Agility Robotics' Digit at its Hesston, Kansas, manufacturing facility in 2027, starting with repetitive parts and tote-handling work.

The commercial agreement defines an initial factory scope: Digit will sort and stack parts and place totes into storage. AGCO says the pilot is intended to support demanding and repetitive work inside human-centered production areas rather than require a purpose-built robot cell.
The companies have not disclosed the number of robots, shift schedule, integration equipment, safety case, acceptance criteria or cost. Because the pilot begins in 2027, the announcement is a deployment commitment with a named site and work package, not evidence of current productivity.

What changed
Agility disclosed Digit 5's compute and safety architecture earlier in the week. The AGCO agreement supplies a separate customer commitment: a named agricultural-equipment factory, a 2027 start and specific material-handling tasks inside production operations.
02
Why it matters
Agricultural-equipment plants combine varied parts, human-oriented workspaces and production changes that can make fixed automation expensive to reconfigure. A humanoid that safely handles routine material flow could reduce ergonomic strain and cover work that falls between conveyors, forklifts and conventional robot cells. The Hesston pilot is useful because its first tasks are narrow enough to evaluate against existing methods. AGCO should publish intervention frequency, safety events, task completion, takt-time effects and total integration cost before expanding the robot to more complex assembly work or additional plants.
03
What to watch
Watch the robot count, deployment date, safety validation, human-intervention rate, throughput per shift, tote and part variability, ergonomic outcomes, maintenance workload and whether AGCO expands Digit beyond the initial Hesston tasks.
Why it was a runner-up
The named plant and task list make the pilot operationally specific, but deployment starts in 2027 and no production results exist yet.
Impact: 87/100 · Confidence: 90/100
AGCO and Agility both provide primary confirmation of the commercial agreement, site, 2027 timing and initial tasks. Confidence is high in the planned pilot; all operating and economic results remain prospective.
